The Illustration Meeting for the PPPA Project Investment and Cooperation of Kitasato University of Japan will be held at the Center on the afternoon of July 5, which is jointly held by Ji’nan University and South China Center for Innovative Pharmaceuticals. At the Meeting, the representatives of the management team and the technical team of the PPPA Project will introduce the project of PPPA, an anti-lipemic and anti-atherosclerotic drug, including the technical introduction, R&D status, and the business mode of cooperation or investment.

PPPA refers to Pyripyropene A and its serial derivatives developed by the team led by SATOSHI OMURA in Kitasato University of Japan, which is a kind of ACAT2 selective depressant, researched and developed in Kitasato University as an anti-lipemic and anti-atherosclerotic drug. At present, PPPA derivatives have reached the molecular level, and expected anti-lipemic and anti-atherosclerotic experimental results have been obtained on the pharmacodynamical models of small animals such as gene knockout mice and New Zealand white rabbits. In addition, these derivatives had no statistically significant effect on the important organs such as liver and kidney during the 12-week observation period.

Professor SATOSHI OMURA is a well-known biological organic chemist, specializing in discovering national products and antibiotics with pharmacological effects from microorganisms. In the 40-year academic career, he has established many methods for the separation, culture and screening of microorganisms, and has discovered more than 410 kinds of brand-new bioactive substances. In particular, the Ivermectin under the cooperative development with Merck Company (U.S.A) benefits the human beings. Professor SATOSHI OMURA is also an academician from American Academy of Sciences, an academician from French American Academy of Sciences and an academician from Japan Academy, who was selected as a foreign academician for Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2005.
