Led by Guangdong Provincial Science & Technology Department, SCCIP introduced a cluster of five vaccine innovation teams led by Overseas Chinese Scholarsto form a new joint team for vaccine innovation with its strong technical complementarily upon which a scientific research entity - Southern China United Vaccine Institute Co., Ltd. has been founded.

This new vaccine innovation team is solidly backed up by its strongly technical foundation in the light of cell vaccination, genetic engineering vaccine, peptide vaccine, polysaccharide coupling vaccine, and recombinant virus vaccine, upon which a variety of innovated vaccines has been developed, in which the genetic engineering hepatitis B vaccine has been completed with clinic trial in phase II, a clinical trial of full human body for refined Japanese encephalitis vaccine with a large scale biocytoculture is completed which is successfully transferred in an industrialization mode to pharmaceutical enterprise. A variety of innovation vaccines is now under research and development, and will enter the stage of registration and industrialization transformation. 

SCCIP has furnished a specialized laboratory of innovative research and development for Southern China United Vaccine Institute, and is equipped with modern vaccine research apparatus. In addition, some sub-platforms successively built, such as quality study and validation, laboratory animals, and clinical trial attached to the general platform for new drug innovation, provide strong support. With combination of those sub-platforms, Southern China United Vaccine Institute would be expected to preliminarily build up the most complete vaccine innovation technology chain in China.

Since the foundation of Southern China United Vaccine Institute, sub-platforms of cell vaccination, genetic engineering vaccine, peptide vaccine are improved to facilitate innovation development of vaccine variety, new pandemic vaccine variety and new therapeutic vaccine variety for some major contagious diseases together with upgrade and renovation of high technology.

Relying on vast vaccine market, characterized by its frequently prevailing epidemic and concentrated multinational vaccine enterprises in South China, and under the support of Guangdong Provincial Science & Technology Department and the organization of SCCIP together with competent elite and technology clustered from both at home and abroad, Southern China United Vaccine Institute Co., Ltd would become a specialized R&D institution for vaccine innovation, taking a leading position at home, and exerting its significant influence worldwide.
